Writes to disk on this device. No artificial file-size or duration limits; your browser, codecs and free storage set the practical limits.

A silent video, with the picture intact.

Remove audio from video without uploading your footage.

  1. 1

    Choose your video

Drop one saved video into the upload area. Splice reads its contents locally and shows the duration and file size.

  2. 2

    Review your video

Check its duration, dimensions and number of audio tracks. All audio tracks will be removed.

  3. 3

    Process on your device

A worker reads and writes media incrementally. Progress follows actual processing. Cancel to return to your input and settings.

  4. 4

Preview and save the silent video

Play and seek through the result. Download before changing settings or leaving this page.

Formats & compatibility

MP4, MOV, WebM and other recognized saved containers depend on their actual codecs. H.264/AAC MP4 is the most broadly supported path; VP9 and Opus depend on your browser and player. Damaged files, live streams and files with multiple video tracks are rejected.

Video is copied into MP4 without re-encoding. Resolution, frame timing and encoded picture quality are preserved where the container supports the source stream. Every audio track is excluded, including extra language tracks. Non-audio extras such as subtitles cannot be silently omitted and may prevent export.

If the video cannot be safely copied, the tool reports the incompatibility instead of quietly re-encoding your picture.

Private, with practical limits

No uploads, account, watermark or artificial size or duration limits. Browser codec support, RAM, free disk space and processing power still matter. Current desktop Chrome and Edge provide the most complete tested path.

These utilities require disk-backed output. Single results can save directly to a chosen file where supported; split clips and ZIP use temporary browser disk storage. No entire input video or collection of output clips is held in RAM. Large muxer indexes can still use memory.

Canceling aborts partial output and preserves a chosen destination’s previous contents. Successfully finished results use storage until you change settings or leave. A ZIP64 archive needs a compatible archive reader. Very large WAV extraction uses RF64, which older players may not support.

A few useful answers

Does this actually remove the sound?

Yes. The downloaded file contains no audio tracks. Changing the player volume or muting a preview would leave the sound inside the file; this tool removes it during export.

Will my files be uploaded?

No. Media is read from your device and processed in your browser. Keep this tab open until the operation finishes.

Why can’t this video finish?

The browser may lack a required codec or available disk space. Check the error, try a compatible H.264/AAC file, and allow access to your destination. The input filename alone cannot establish codec support.

Can I cancel and try again?

Yes. Cancel returns to your selected file and settings. After completion, Change settings clears the previous outputs before another run. Save your results first.
